Brandishing a weapon -- 600 block of Escuela Ave, 1/15

A man arriving home to his apartment complex at 11:18 p.m. was locking up his bicycle when another resident of the complex came up to him, yelling and threatening to cause him bodily harm.

The suspect then picked up a four-foot-long stick and ran towards the first man.

The victim called the police from a nearby pay phone. Mariano Moreno, 53, was located and arrested for making criminal threats and for public toxication.

Assault with a deadly weapon -- Round Table Pizza, 157 E. El Camino Real, 1/13

The manager of Round Table Pizza was approached at 10:02 p.m. by a hooded man wielding a baseball bat. He hit the manager several times and demanded his car keys. The suspect then took the keys and drove away in the car.

Paramedics treated the victim for bruises and abrasions. Police located the vehicle near Highway 101 and Shoreline Boulevard.

After a short pursuit into East Palo Alto, the suspect crashed the car into an unoccupied parked car and fled on foot. A police search did not immediately locate the suspect. However, the suspect was known to the victim as a previous employee.

Roy Estrada, 18, of East Palo Alto, was later arrested on charges of carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon.
