Songs for tsunami survivors
The Los Altos High School choirs are holding a benefit concert to raise funds for South Asia tsunami relief. The Concert Choir and Main Street Singers will be joined by Gamelan Anak Swarasanti, a traditional Indonesian musical group.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. on Feb. 12 at the First United Methodist Church of Palo Alto. Donations are $10 each and will be forwarded to UNICEF, the Red Cross and Save the Children.
Google shares to hit market
Google employees wanting to get their sweethearts something special this Valentine's could have a lot more extra cash to throw around come Feb. 14. A restriction on a block of more than 100 million employee-owned shares in the company expires Monday, freeing up employees of the Mountain View company to sell it on the open market.
The stock has greatly exceeded expectations since debuting at $85 a share last August, surpassing $200 earlier this month following an announcement that earnings were seven times higher than last year.
