School briefs

Eleanor Birrell, a senior at Los Altos High School, has been named as one of more than 2,600 candidates in the 2005 Presidential Scholars Program, one of the highest honors bestowed on graduating high school students.

The scholars are selected based on superior academic and artistic achievement, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in community and school activities. Birrell has been invited to attend a ceremony in Washington, D.C. where she will receive the Presidential Scholars medallion.

Local honor roll students

Mountain View resident Aisha Naomi Young was on the fall 2004 honor roll at Washington State University. Mark W Evitt and Aaron O. Kaye, both of Mountain View, were on the fall 2004 honor roll at Tufts University. Mountain View's Erika Rose was named to the Lewis and Clark College Dean's List for the fall 2004 semester.
