SFHS raises $12K for tsunami relief

St. Francis High School students have raised more than $12,000 for the South Asia tsunami-relief effort.

The Associated Student Body and Student Council sponsored a live auction on Jan. 31 to benefit the tsunami-relief funds. Students, using paper-plate bid paddles, bid on items such as shaving the head of their favorite teacher and a "Get Out of Detention Pass." The auction raised about $1,000.

In addition, the St. Francis High School Band, in coordination with seven other local high school bands, held a concert to benefit the American Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund on Jan. 27. The event attracted 500 people and raised $8,000 in donations.

The St. Francis monthly mission fund also collected over $3,400 for the Catholic Relief Services tsunami fund.
