Retirees host walk-a-thon

Mountain View retirement community Villa Siena is hosting its first Nutrition & Fitness Day at 10 a.m. on March 29 at 1855 Miramonte Ave. It will raise money to benefit the American Heart Association.

The focus of the day is on healthy eating and exercise. From 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., information stations will provide advice for healthy day-to-day living. From 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., the residents will participate in a Walk/Wheel-A-Thon.

Moms give to tsunami relief

A local mothers’ group raised $1,000 for tsunami relief during a garage sale on March 12. The group of about 20 women, who all have children who were born in 2002 and met through a local hospital, held the garage sale at two homes on Fairbrook Drive. The money raised is being donated to UNICEF to help with tsunami-relief efforts.
