(April 08, 2005) Another take entirely on D.E.B.S review
Editor:
Jeanne Aufmuth's D.E.B.S review in the March 25 Voice once again confirms my distrust of movie reviews in newspapers. Apparently, she, (a) slept though it, (b) has no sense of humor or (c) was rejected by an international lesbian spy ring for displaying a lack of a sense of humor or subtlety on her S.A.T., and still holds a grudge.
If you liked the original TV show Mission Impossible, those old Alka Seltzer commercials with all the stomachs, Mod Squad, The Red Violin, Antonia's Line, or dark chocolate with orange in it, then go see the D.E.B.S.
This is stuff I like, and I loved the D.E.B.S. Next time,
I'm skipping the Voice movie reviews and going directly to the
popcorn line.

Nothing wrong with hospital CEO's contract
Editor:
I was reading your last week's article regarding CEO Lee Domanico, who manages El Camino Hospital.
I don't blame him so much for getting a lucrative contract like he has. I would accept the same.
Also I feel that there is a board of directors that okayed a contract for Mr. Domanico. If this is the case, they should all be fired and let's clean house. I am sure that a lot of people get compensated through their contract.

Everyone should have a health care directive
Editor:
Like Terri Schiavo, none of us can anticipate the course of our lives, but each of us should take control of our fate to the extent we can.
Everyone should have an advanced healthcare directive. This crucial document encapsulates what you want and don't want for your health care and under what circumstances. It removes doubt in the case you are unable to articulate your wishes.
Regardless of your position on the right to die debate, you should create a healthcare directive. Make it yours, individual and authentic, and address things like your values, wishes, spiritual aspects, and issues of burden and control.
Forms and directions are available on Camino Medical Group's and other Web sites. The CMG is also offering workshops in April on how to prepare one. Completing a directive form takes only a few minutes, but can potentially give you the control that Terri Schiavo never had.

Why won't Perry back Devonshire Park?
Editor:
I read with interest last week that city council member Greg Perry objects to building Devonshire Park, an area the city has identified as a good site of a new park.
We have very little open space in this city and parks are important
to the quality of life in a neighborhood. How can Perry justify spending $330,000 for a feasibility study of a bike bridge that could eventually cost $3 million while not supporting the $600,000 needed for Devonshire Park?
