Spartan golfers keep rolling

A week after clinching the De Anza Division's regular season title, Mountain View's golf team showed no let-up. The Spartans used a 1-under par round by Tyler Ichikawa (35) to help defeat Cupertino 192-255 at Shoreline on March 30.

Lancers nab fifth at West Coast Classic

St. Francis entered the West Coast Classic having won 10 consecutive baseball games. While suffering only their second loss in pool play to James Logan, the Lancers recovered to secure fifth place in the competitive interstate field.

Riding the pitching of sophomore Daniel Stienstra and the hitting of senior Chris Coleman (2 hits, 2 RBIs), St. Francis walloped Pittsburgh 10-0 to begin the WCC on March 29. After falling to James Logan 12-6 the next day, the Lancers rebounded in a later game to defeat Reno 3-2.

St. Francis used a four-run rally in the sixth inning to outlast Foothill-Santa Ana in the tournament's fifth-place game on March 31. Senior Brady Fuerst's home run and Coleman's double and 2 RBIs were the highlights for the Lancers' offense.

St. Francis (13-2 overall, 1-0 league) returns to West Catholic Athletic League play with visits to Sacred Heart Cathedral on April 8 and Riordan on April 9.
