(May 20, 2005) Child concealment, 100 block Fairchild Dr., 5/12
Around 11 p.m., a woman reported that her 13-year-old son was missing and that she thought he might be at a man's house in the neighborhood -- even though she had instructed her son not to go there. When police went to the house of Robert Gentile, 55, he did not immediately answer the door, but they could see that both he and the boy were inside. Police say they watched Gentile help the boy hide inside a hollowed-out sofa sleeper. They say he then answered the door and told police he did not know where the boy was. Gentile then allowed police to search his house and they found the boy in the sofa. Gentile was arrested on charges of concealing a child he did not have legal custody of.
Assault with a deadly weapon, 500 block Anza, 5/10
A 10-year-old boy showed up at school on May 11 with a large bruise on his face. When asked what happened, he said he was shot with a paintball gun the day before. He said he was riding his bike when a black Honda sedan drove up to him and someone shot him in the right check with some type of paintball or air gun. There is no indication that he was specifically targeted.
