Police Log Police Log (July 08, 2005)

Attempted homicide on 1900 block of California St., 7/4

On Monday evening, two men were walking down the 1900 block of California Street when they noticed two suspects come up behind them. There was a verbal exchange between the two parties, and one of the suspects displayed a handgun and began firing, hitting one victim in the back. The two suspects and the victim's friend all fled the scene.

At about 10:09 p.m., a Mountain View Police officer on routine patrol heard sounds of moaning and located the male victim in his 20s laying on the side of the road between two parked cars with a gunshot wound to his back. The officer began providing emergency medical care, and the victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Police were unable to find the suspects, described as Hispanic males in their late teens, both wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts.

Suspicious circumstances at Mountain View High School, 6/29

At about 2:30 p.m., a suicide crisis center in San Mateo received a call from a person stating that he intended to jump off a roof at Mountain View High School. The Mountain View Police Department responded but did not locate anybody at the school. Officers then traced the phone number to two 15-year-old boys, who had made a prank call to the suicide crisis center. Both were issued citations for falsely reporting an emergency.
