Sunny, peaceful July 4 in MV
(July 08, 2005) By Jenny Baer
Mountain View experienced a sunny and peaceful Fouth of July weekend, with a low rate of crime and plenty of fun and family barbecues.
Crime activity was not hectic during this weekend. "Other than the (shooting) incident that occurred on July 4, there were no significant cases over the weekend," said Mountain View police spokesman Jim Bennett.
The Shoreline Aquatic Center and Park was packed on July 4, according to employee Katrina Kosco. Paddleboating was the most popular activity, with kayaking coming in second.
"There were lots of families and also lots of couples on dates," Kosco said. The busiest time of day for the park was around 4 p.m., and families started claiming their ground for the nearby Shoreline Amphitheatre fireworks show as early as 2 p.m.
According to a spokesperson, about 7,000 customers paid for seats to see the pyrotechnics at the music venue.
