Litle Giants take minors title
(July 08, 2005) The West Coast Tae Kwon Do Giants defeated the Red Sox to take the Mountain View Little League minor division title on June 11.
The final game was very tight until the Giants broke it open with eight runs in the last two innings. The Giants capped a great regular season by going 6-1 in the playoffs to capture the title. They had to win five straight games in the losers bracket, including a thrilling 15-14 victory over the Mariners who had defeated them earlier in the tournament.
Drew Mitchner, John McAlister and Josh Williams provided solid pitching and hitting throughout the playoffs. Devin Schaumburg, Chad Schaumburg, Dwight Washington and Dominick Bailey were also big contributors to an offense that averaged 12 runs per game in the seven playoff games.
Mitchner, McAlister, Williams, Bailey and Washington were named to the league's tournament team, which competed in the District 44 Friendship Tournament for 9-year-old players held in Campbell.
