Free summer concerts worth a look
Those looking to enjoy the summer through music are in luck: Three distinct venues offer free concerts in July and August.
The City of Mountain View Summer Sounds series takes place in two locations. Listeners are encouraged to bring a lawn chair to the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts plaza, 500 Castro St., at 6:30 p.m. to hear the California reggae band the Yardies on July 28 and the look-alike cover band the Unauthorized Rolling Stones on Aug. 11.
Or they can head to Cuesta Park, 615 Cuesta Dr., at 6:30 p.m. to hear Busta Groove's party music of the '70s and onward on July 21 and Rumors's tribute to Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks on Aug. 4.
Music lovers may also want to attend the Community School of Music and Arts' free summer concerts in Tateuchi Hall. On July 15 at 7:30 p.m., guest artist Isabelle Chapuis and CSMA faculty offer a violin & flute concert, while popular award-winning children's recording artist Tim Cain performs July 24 at 4 p.m.
And on Aug. 4 at 4 p.m., a jazzy supper club experience is recreated with "A Swinging Cabaret." For more information on Summer Sounds concerts, call (650) 903-6000 or visit www.mvcpa.com. For information on CSMA's concerts, call (650) 917-6800 or visit www.arts4all.org.
