Robbery at Starbucks, 500 block N. Rengstorff Avenue, 7/17
At 4:30 a.m., two Starbucks employees were in the store when a man approached the door. When the employees opened the door for him, he took out a handgun and attempted to get cash from the store -- but there was none available to take. The would-be robber, described as a black man in his mid-20s wearing a San Francisco Giants cap, tied up both employees and fled the store, and has not been located since.
Several Toyota Camrys stolen, 7/11 and 7/12
A rash of auto thefts appears to be focusing on Toyota Camrys.
A red Camry was stolen on the 800 block of San Veron Avenue at 11:30 p.m. and located an hour later on Terminal Boulevard. An hour later, a light-gray Camry was stolen from Trader Joe's on 590 Showers Drive. While an officer was conducting an investigation on this vehicle, he found another stolen Camry that had been dropped off in the parking lot.
About three hours after that, an officer was responding to a call about a stolen Camry on the 2200 block of Rock Street when he located another one parked in that block that was reported as stolen from San Mateo.
