MV Chamber toasts outstanding businesses and business members
(November 11, 2005) By Don Frances
For the 11th year in a row, Mountain View's business community will come together and honor some of its finer elements.
Each year the Celebration of Leaders Awards, put on by the Chamber of Commerce, honors local businesses, nonprofits and individuals in four categories: outstanding large business, outstanding small business, outstanding organization and outstanding business person. The four recipients this year are, respectively, America Online, Michaels at Shoreline, the Community Services Agency (CSA), and Nancy Noe of ALZA Corporation.
Noe, a 30-year resident and former vice mayor of Mountain View, is being celebrated for her industrious participation in local politics and business. Besides city government, her service history includes the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, CSA, League of Women Voters and KMVT, to name a few.
The ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View. Carol Olson, president of the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce, explained why residents won't want to miss it: "It's the community celebration of the year."
The event will also honor the 10 outstanding volunteers of 2005: Susie Brain of Friends of Stevens Creek Trail, June Casey of the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, Robin Frank of KMVT, Sue Graham of the Community Health Awareness Center, Lyn Healy of Peninsula Youth Theatre, Jean Hollands of the El Camino YMCA, Bruce Karney of Leadership Mountain View, Andy and Anita Moser of the Palo Alto Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, Brian O'Grady of the Community School of Music and Arts, and Rey Rodriguez of the CSA. The Mountain View Library Foundation and the Wakerly Family Foundation will also be honored.
