Holiday Fund closes in on last year's mark
(January 06, 2006)
Readers of the Voice are continuing to contribute to the annual Holiday Fund drive, adding more than $4,000 in the last week.
The drive officially ended Jan. 1, although contributions are accepted through the 15th. For more information, contact the Voice at (650) 964-6300.
This year's donations will be matched by grants from the Wakerly Family Foundation, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. If reader donations reach $20,000, the fund should provide $40,000 to the six local nonprofit organizations that will benefit this year. The nonprofits are:
* The Community Services Agency of Mountain View;
* The Community Health Awareness Council;
* The Mountain View Rotacare Clinic;
* The Day Worker Center of Mountain View;
* The Support Center for Battered Women;
* The Community School of Music and Arts.
See page 13 of our Jan. 6 print newspaper for a list of reader donations received through Jan. 1. Voice readers so far have contributed $18,143 to the Holiday Fund.
