Auto Theft, 1/4

Mountain View police detectives followed a suspicious vehicle across the Bay into Newark. Police stopped the vehicle, determined that it was stolen, and arrested two men on charges of possession of stolen property.

After running their identifications, police determined that one of the two men was a suspect in a Dec. 30 carjacking. Further investigation ultimately returned four stolen vehicles, police say.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon, 1905 Latham St., 1/2

At 8:05 p.m., police responded to an assault call from a Seven Eleven store. Two victims, described as 19- and 21-year-old males, were leaving the store when they were confronted by four to six suspects riding in a white vehicle. One suspect took out a stick similar to a broom handle and struck the 21-year-old on the head, causing serious injury. The victims fled and contacted the police, and the 21-year-old was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The suspects, described as black males, were not found.
