TONIGHT: Latest updates on hospital acquisition

This evening, one month after El Camino Hospital officially took over a new hospital facility in Los Gatos, board members will receive their first update on activities at the new site.

El Camino executives announced in December that they intended to buy the hospital, formerly Community Hospital of Los Gatos, for what is now being called a $103 million investment. Despite opposition from some local residents, who accused hospital officials of not being transparent enough, El Camino took over the Los Gatos facility on April 11, renaming it El Camino Hospital Los Gatos.

El Camino staff will run the new acquisition as a sister site when it reopens later this summer, and both hospitals will be governed by the same board.

Eric Pifer, president of El Camino Hospital Los Gatos, will give the first update on the new facility during the hospital board's 5:30 p.m. meeting on Wednesday, May 13 in the cafeteria at El Camino Hospital, located at 2500 Grant Road, Mountain View.

The hospital district buying Los Gates Hospital is beyond the pale. These guys seem to running wild, I can't believe that our Hospital district would allow them to buy anything outside the district. Now we are risk for this unwelcome action. They need to be recalled or fired.
