COMING UP: 3rd annual Soap Box Derby

 

On Saturday, the Silicon Valley Soap Box Derby will hold its third annual race on the Dana Street freeway overpass in front of Landels Elementary School.

The June 6 event starts at 9 a.m. and features a race between local mayors at 9:30 a.m. The winner of kid's stock and super-stock classes will travel to Akron, Ohio for the national championships.

At noon, racing will begin for a group of special-needs children called super kids. The day ends after awards are given out at 6 p.m.

The Palo Alto Elks Silicon Valley Soap Box Derby is a don't miss all day event. With our Corporate Sponsor Air Systems, Inc and over 30 other company contributions along with several Service Organizations including several Lions Clubs, Kiwanis and Elks lodges cooperating to make this an exciting day for both those racing and watching.

If you are interested in an All-American activity that involves gravity-powered cars, drivers are boys & girls age 8 to 17, learning how to build things and fun for the whole family then you should learn more about the Soap Box Derby.
