Would-be thieves pried open a cashbox but found only play money in a Huff Elementary School classroom that was broken into overnight on Sept. 28, police said.
The burglar or burglars also pried open a locked file drawer, but nothing was reported missing, said Liz Wylie, public information officer for the Mountain View Police Department.
“No luck there,” Wylie said of the box of play money that was opened.
The investigation is in progress, she said. At this point police don’t know how many individuals were involved, but they believe entry was gained by forcing open the classroom door with a pry bar.
