Apartment on Latham Street burglarized

Jewelry was stolen when an apartment in the 1900 block of Latham Street was burglarized sometime between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. last Monday, police said.

The burglar or burglars gained entry through an unlocked bedroom window, according to Mountain View police spokeswoman Liz Wylie.

The jewelry was estimated to be worth about $500, Wylie said.

1.) You live on Latham Street, part of "crime central" in Mountain View.

2.) You left your bedroom window unlocked.

3.) You are an idiot, and you got exactly what you deserved.

Q.E.D.

Was it unwise to leave the window unlocked? Yes

Did the victim "deserve" it? No

It was a crime of opportunity that could've may have been preventable but who's to say the thief wouldn't have just broken that window to begin with? There's a lessen to be learned but just because someone took advantage doesn't mean you should ever blame the victim.
