Arson suspected in truck fire on Villa Street

Police believe arson caused a pick-up truck to erupt into flames in the 1700 block of Villa Street in Mountain View Thursday, Jan. 27.

Police officers arrived around 1 a.m. and failed to put out the flames with fire extinguishers, police information officer Liz Wylie said. Mountain View firefighters arrived and put out the blaze.

The truck was towed to the Mountain View police department for the fire squad to investigate, Wylie said.

The owner of the truck is a 36-year-old man who lives on the block.

Witnesses are encouraged to call 650-903-6344. The calls can be anonymous.

Somehow this incident recalls one that happened not long ago near El Camino and El Monte, where a PU was burned in a parking lot.
