Skateboarder hit by vehicle

A skateboarder was hospitalized with major injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Palo Alto on Sunday, Oct. 20, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

Though originally reported to have occurred in Mountain View, the incident took place on the Stanford campus, Mountain View police said Monday.

The incident occurred in the 500 block of Mayfield Avenue at about 11:30 a.m., CHP Officer James Evans said.

The victim has been identified as Vincent Su, a California Highway Patrol officer said Monday.

Su, 19, was riding his skateboard in the 500 block of Mayfield Avenue at about 11:30 a.m. when he collided with a silver Toyota sedan with Ohio license plates, CHP spokesman Officer Art Montiel said.

The skateboarder was taken to Stanford Hospital with major injuries, but no update about his condition was available Monday, Montiel said.

No arrest was made, no citation issued and there was no indication that alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash, Montiel said.

The case remains under investigation.
