In the wake of a recent drug overdose by a Mountain View student, the Mountain View Police Department will be hosting a joint presentation with Mountain View High School on teen drugs and alcohol use from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 in the Mountain View High School Spartan Theatre, located at 3535 Truman Ave.
The presentation, called "High in Plain Sight," will be with Mountain View school resource officer Ron Cooper, and is intended to inform families about drugs, alcohol, and the dangers that students face.
On March 12, a day after the overdose incident, the Mountain View-Los Altos High School District sent out a letter to the families of students, encouraging parents to start an open dialogue about the dangers of drug use, abuse and experimentation and promising that there would be an education forum about drug and alcohol use.

This sounds like an excellent idea. It's so important to get both parents and teens clued up about the realities of drug use. If anyone is concerned their child may be doing drugs, check out the warning signs here Web Link it's a really great new quiz tool.
