Mountain View police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect who allegedly burglarized a Mountain View resident’s car and home before stealing one of the family’s cars.

The suspect allegedly broke into a car parked on the 500 block of Showers Drive and stole a purse from inside the vehicle sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11. The victim reported the theft to police, and stated that her car had been locked at the time the suspect broke into the vehicle.

The victim told police that after she reported the theft and returned home on that day, she found that her home on the 300 block of Apricot Way had also been burglarized, and someone had taken a family member’s 2001 silver Lexus parked inside the garage.

Police believe that the same suspect is involved in both of the crimes. Police also believe surveillance footage from a nearby business shows the alleged suspect, who is described as a 6-foot to 6-foot-3-inches tall man between the ages of 30 and 35, with brown eyes and brown hair.

Anyone who sees the suspect is asked to call 650-903-6395 and ask for Officer Ruben Gonzales.
