Police arrest man driving stolen Land Rover

Owner of stolen car spotting it driving past him in Mountain View

A 33-year-old man was arrested in Mountain View last week after the owner of a stolen vehicle spotted him driving it, police said.

The man was arrested after police received a call at about 1:45 p.m. on Jan. 3 from a resident who said he had spotted his stolen Land Rover Discovery driving past him on El Camino Real near The Americana.

The vehicle had been reported stolen in late December and officers eventually found it near state Highway 237 at El Camino Real, according to police.

The vehicle was pulled over on Mountain View Avenue just north of El Camino Real and the suspect, a transient, was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, vehicle theft and parole violation, police said.

Editor's note: The Voice's policy is to withhold the names of those arrested for most crimes until the District Attorney has determined there is sufficient evidence to file charges in the case.

What's up with sponsored ads? Doesn't even have any connection to the article.

So along with hyper-censoring our comments we are now going to get pummeled by advertisements.

Thank you MVPD for your fast work on apprehending this car thief.

I think it is really funny that the newspaper refuses to print the name of the perp when the police department has already posted it on Facebook. Does the newspaper think they are more influential than Facebook?

Have you read the policy of the Voice on this as it was posted publicly? It's their choice to do as they wish on their page. Don't you think they are standing by their publicly policy in this case? Seems pretty clear to me. The owner makes the rules for the page.

Interesting. A "transient" stole a Land Rover in Mountain View (or was somehow in possession of the stolen Land Rover) and drove it right in front of the owner weeks later as if the driver were INSANE. And that will be his defense in the criminal case. He could get locked up in a mental facility. How about the WHITE HOUSE? What (more) harm could he cause there?
