Two high-ranking members of President Donald Trump’s administration, Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and Secretary of Defense James Mattis, will visit Stanford University's Hoover Institution on Monday and Tuesday.
They will be in Palo Alto for the Australia-U.S. Ministerial Consultations with Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop and Minister for Defence Marise Payne, according to an announcement from the State Department.
Stanford is reportedly expecting protests on campus. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that they are being led by national anti-Trump group Indivisible
The Hoover Institution event "celebrates 100 years of Mateship, marking the centenary of U.S. and Australian forces fighting side by side in battle for the first time" and will "focus on deepening our strategic alliance and developing initiatives to promote our shared vision of peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and beyond," the State Department said.
