A fun Night Out

A soggy Officer Wahed Magee emerges from the dunk tank at Tuesday's National Night Out festivities at Cuesta Park.

The annual event aims to bring local police and fire departments together with the communities they serve. The block parties, which are always held in the evening hours, are meant to make neighborhoods safer as well as promote community partnerships. Mountain View's police and fire departments participated in the Aug. 7 event.

National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored by the police agencies throughout Santa Clara County, according to a press release from the county's Registrar of Voters. National Night Out involves 38 million people and 16,000 communities nationwide.
