Senior Hanna Hoffman recorded a game-high 13 kills and the Menlo girls volleyball team beat visiting Harker 25-20, 25-17, 25-19 in a West Bay Athletic League match on Friday night.

Hoffman had a hitting percentage of .590, added 14 assists and eight digs for the Knights (18-5, 3-0), who play at Notre Dame Belmont on Tuesday.

Sophomore Cleo Hardin added 10 kills and senior Sharon Nejad had eight kills on .800 hitting. Senior Zoe Gregory had a team-high 27 assists and four aces.

In a SCVAL De Anza Division match, Gunn fell to Cupertino, 14-25. 25-20, 25-20, 25-21.

In the WBAL Skyline Division, Castilleja swept visiting Crystal Springs Uplands 25-12, 25-6, 25-14 as freshman Claire Sun served 11 aces to go with seven kills, 16 assists, a block and six dogs.

Eveliena Pasmooij added 17 assists, five kills, three aces, three blocks and six digs while Thea Dai had nine kills and three aces.

Miraya Rehman had eight kills and three blocks and Jordan Amos-Grosser had an ace, five kills and 13 digs for Castilleja (13-4, 2-0), which plays at The King’s Academy on Tuesday.

Carondelet (10-2) edged Castilleja 10-9 in a nonleague match on Friday. The Gators (7-4) were led by Sydney Lowell with three goals. Gabby Lewis added two goals and four steals.

Annika Burks, Serafina Cortez, Janet Meng and Caitlyn Chau also scored for Castilleja, which is scheduled to play at Mountain View on Tuesday. Sutchie Ofori-Nyako recorded 10 saves and Talula Seale had two assists and two steals.

Menlo moved into Saturday’s semifinals of its own Amanda MacDonald Memorial Invitational with a pair of wins on Friday.

Menlo opened with a 12-6 victory over Woodside and then downed Gunn 8-6 as Erica Fenyo scored six goals.

Menlo meets Miramonte in one semifinal at 10:50 a.m. while Los Gatos and Acalanes meet at noon. Both matches are slated for Menlo.

Gunn opened with an 11-3 victory over Sobrato as Siham Arsalane scored three goals and had four steals. Jayden Kratt recorded eight saves.

In the loss to Menlo, Arsalane added three goals and Nina Albers socred a goal, made two steals, and blocked three shots. Kratt made 16 saves.

Woodside came back to beat Sobrato 17-7. Palo Alto lost to St. Ignatius 7-4 and then beat Carlmont 13-4.

Gunn meets St. Ignatius in the morning with a chance to finish fifth.

At Menlo-Atherton, the host Bears lost to Heritage 8-5 and then beat Presentation 16-3.

Palo Alto meets Woodside at 10 a.m. and Mitty plays Menlo-Atherton at 11 a.m. in the consolation finals, also at M-A.

Boys water polo

Menlo-Atherton opened the Spartan Tournament at Mountain View with a 17-10 victory over Harbor and will play at 10 a.m. Saturday in the winner’s bracket.

Woodside is also scheduled to play Saturday.
