Carlos Deras scored twice and the Sacred Heart Prep boys soccer team downed University 3-1 in the semifinals of the CIF Northern California Regional Division IV tournament Thursday.
The third-seeded Gators (16-5-2) advance into the regional championship Saturday at No. 1 Vintage of Napa. Match time is 5 p.m.
Luke Maxwell put SHP on the scoreboard in the 16th minute, redirecting a deflection from Luca Suarez.
Maxwell scored both goals in SHP’s win over Piedmont on Tuesday.
Vintage (17-4-4) earned a first-round bye while Mitty (10-5-9) beat Dixon 4-3 to reach the semifinals.
Vintage was the co-champion, with Casa Grande, of the Vine Valley Athletic League.
Deras made it a 2-0 lead with his first goal in the 35th minute, scoring with an assist from Colin Johnson.
Maxwell earned the assist on Deras’ second goal, scored in the 52nd minute to make it 3-0.
The Red Devils got on the board in the 55th minute, with Jack Gaitley scoring.
Girls soccer
St. Francis fell to host Buchanan 1-0 in the semifinal of the Division I tournament Thursday.
The West Catholic Athletic League champion Lancers (15-2-5) were undefeated until falling to Mountain View in the Central Coast Section Open Division final.
The Lancers went on to knock off No. 2 seed Carondelet 1-0 in the quarterfinals.
Mountain View, the fourth seed, lost to No. 1 Oak Ridge 3-0, also in Division I.
The Spartans (22-1-1) suffered their first loss of the season as Oak Ridge's Emily Leiber scored twice, including one in the final minute of the first half.
Freshman defender Meera Mathew had a solid game, as did seniors Abby Westcott, Isabella Walker and Elechi Iroaga.
In Division III, No. 2 Chico knocked off No. 3 Los Altos 4-2. Chico scored with less than 15 seconds remaining to play.
Los Altos had an open net with less than two minutes remaining but the shot sailed just over the top of the net.
Top players for the Eagles (15-6-3) included seniors Kaia Flores, Esha Gupta And Mira Morales.
Sophomore Aiofe Turner, junior Alysandra Barrios, sophomore Kieran Harrison and freshman Anya Lin also played well.
