A 43-year-old man carrying a concealed handgun at the Monte Carlo Night Club Sunday evening accidentally had his firearm discharge while he was dancing with a woman, injuring both of them, according to police.
Mountain View dispatchers received a phone call about the shooting just after 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, and immediately sent a response team to the club, located on the 200 block of Castro Street, police said.
When officers arrived, security staff at the club had already detained the man. Both the man and the woman each sustained at least one gunshot wound, and were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The man was still in the hospital as of Tuesday.
Once released from the hospital, the man will be arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, negligent discharge of a firearm and possessing a gun that was not registered to him, among other charges, police said. The woman will not face any charges.
