A deliveryman was robbed after dropping off a pizza at an apartment in the 2000 block of California Street on Jan. 15, police said.

The 40-year-old victim, a Mountain View resident and Domino’s employee, was returning to his car after dropping off a pizza at about 9:10 p.m., according to MVPD spokeswoman Liz Wylie. The man was approached by two men dressed in all black. Both pointed a silver, semi-automatic handgun at him and demanded his money and cell phone, which he handed over, Wylie said.

Ordered to run back to the apartment complex, he returned to the apartment he had delivered the pizza and called his boss. He did not call police until he returned to work.

Officers searched the area for the two men, whom the victim described as being of medium height and build and appeared to be in their late teens.

The victim was not hurt in the robbery, Wylie said. The money taken in the robbery was less than $100.

  1. I will be on the lookout for two teens of medium height and medium build. Thanks for not offending anyone in the pursuit of some armed muggers.

  2. Note that in this article:

The description is more clear: “The second robber was not located, but was described as a white man between the ages of 25 and 30, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, of medium build and standing about 5 feet 7 inches tall.”

So seems like the MV Police and the MV Voice are sometimes capable of reporting more details, but are selective about when they do it.

  3. “2000 block of California Street” tells the whole tale, right there. A friend of mine used to live in that block, and had his car broken into three times in one year. Typical for that area, unfortunately.
