At the Community School for Music and Arts on Friday, Oct. 25, a musical performance will tell the true stories of four women who left their lives in Mexico to come to California.

The performance is entitled “Suenos do Esperanza (Dreams of Hope) and has a score conducted by composer and pianist Henry Mollicone and sung by soprano Elena Galvan. Proceeds from the show benefit the Day Worker Center of Mountain View.

There will also be an exhibition of a collection of quilts made by the day workers on display. The quilt exhibition will run until Dec. 3.

To raise funds for the center there will be a “musical auction” and $20 donation is requested, but not required, at the door.

The event is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Community School of Music and Arts, 230 San Antonio Circle, on Oct. 25. RSVP is encouraged, at tinyurl.com/loqr85l

  1. Did they come here legally? or Illegally?

This is the question, I would not support anything that promotes Illegal activities.

  2. The Day Worker Center is a very important tool for people who want to work at a job and work on their citizenship, banking, doctors care and many other things that lots of us take for granted. The people are already living here and are valuable members of our community. The DWC is NOT about encouraging illegal immigration.

Support for and understanding of what the Day Worker Center REALLY does is a good reason to attend this event. The Center on Escuela Avenue is beautiful, busy and well maintained on. Ironically, education is the main focus at the DWC. Priceless!
