Police arrested a 25-year-old transient man at a Little Caesar’s Pizza in Mountain View after he had allegedly stolen a bottle of soda and attempted to steal pizzas from a customer just outside the take-out pizza chain.
Officers responded to reports of a silent hold-up alarm at 638 San Antonio Road at around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21. An employee told police that the suspect, later identified as Richard Salcida, had come into the store and purchased cheesy bread. On his way out, Salcida allegedly grabbed a bottle of soda without paying, and once outside, forcefully took three pizza boxes from a customer, according to officer Leslie Hardie of the Mountain View Police Department.
During the altercation, the customer struggled with Salcida, and two other customers went outside to stop the heist, Hardie said. Salcida was unable to wrangle any of the boxes from the customer and left the area on bike before officers arrived.
Salcida was located a short distance away and later arrested on charges of robbery, petty theft and public intoxication. He was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail.
He was definitely drunk. Who would want Little Caesars?
Lol steal pizzas and soda? Who does that? He was right near a Wells Fargo Bank. He could’ve just robbed a customer taking cash out of an ATM and bought the freakin pizza.
Look for a short pudgy guy in a toga. He has a one word vocabulary, “Pizza”, but he will repeat that word twice each time he speaks. He will likely be carrying a spear of some sort. Do not approach
Hmm. Ok, the guy’s on a bike. Steeling soda and food. Clearly, he has enough problems. Is arresting this guy really the solution?
Neighbor’s comment is typical of the soft on crime and soft and homelessness problem that only produces more crime and more problems. It is absolutely correct of the police to arrest this person and he should be prosecuted fully. Homelessness is a plague affecting not only MV but the answer is not a license to commit crime.
