Helen Eileen Alburger

Helen Eileen Alburger passed away peacefully in her home on January 4, 2019 at the grand age of 94. Born Dec. 26, 1924 in Casper, Wyoming. Helen was the youngest of four daughters of Guy and Dale Gay. Her early years were spent in Wyoming and Denver,Colorado before the family settled in Seattle,Washington. It was here that Helen met and Married John Thomas (Tom) Alburger,who was serving in the Coast Guard on Lake Washington. Upon Tom's decommission from the Coast Guard,the couple moved to Indianapolis and began their family-beginning with son, Douglas and daughter Gay. In 1952, the family returned West , first to Menlo Park, and eventually becoming early residents in the newly built community of Ladera. Helen and Tom were blessed with the addition of two more daughters, Terry and Jody. While Tom built his insurance business,Helen was very active in the community and schools,as well as the Children's Health Council,Peninsula volunteers and Little House. She even found time to serve as a Girl Scout leader. Later, Helen worked for years as office manager for Merrill Properties real estate in Menlo Park. In her spare time( Ha Ha ), Helen developed a passion and skill for golf-which made her many new friends and took her to many wonderful places. She also was regularly sought out by friends as a keen bridge partner. Helen is survived and will be greatly missed by her son, Doug Alburger (Susan), and Daughers, Terry Linch (Ron),Jody Pendleton (Matt), as well as,7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Tom, daughter Gay and Grandson, Dylan Pendleton.
