Scott Kleckner died suddenly on July 10 after several days of struggling with flu-like symptoms complicated by Type 1 diabetes. He was 24 and living in Washington, D.C., where he had just graduated from George Washington University. Scott was working in a variety of roles at the Momofuku CCDC restaurant, and was well loved by his coworkers. Scott had recently returned home to the Bay Area to attend his brother's wedding, where he spoke eloquently. His speech reflected his natural charisma and sense of humor.

Scott grew up in Palo Alto as the youngest in a family of five. From a young age, Scott was fiercely independent. His favorite word and default answer was "no." Despite that, he went on to join Troop 57, become an Eagle Scout, and lead the troop as the senior patrol leader. He loved the wilderness and led several expeditions into the woods and snow. At Palo Alto High School, he became the editor of Verde magazine and developed a strong interest in history and politics. After graduation, he enrolled at George Washington University, where he majored in political science. At the Kappa Sigma fraternity, Scott made many lasting friendships with young men from across the country. Scott became disillusioned with politics but found a home at Momofuku. There he developed an interest in the restaurant business and started training to become a restaurant manager. He loved getting to know different people. He charmed his coworkers and customers alike with his personal brand of humor.

Scott is survived by his parents, Jim and Jennifer; and siblings, Reid and Denise.
