Voices Around Town

How do you feel about city ordinances restricting or banning plastic bags?

Asked in downtown Mountain View. Photos and interviews by Nick Veronin

"I think that a plastic bag ban would be great. Surrounding cities are doing it, so people are used to it now. There's no reason not to do it in Mountain View."

Colleen McCallion, Mountain View

"I don't think it helps either way."

Mark Elam, Santa Clara

"I'm totally for the plastic bag ban. I think it's something that people can adapt to. Before the plastic bag ban, I was using reusable bags, but I would always forget them."

Arsala Khan, San Jose

"I suppose it is good for the environment, but I'm not sure how I feel about it, entirely."

Pauline Slakey, Palo Alto

"I think a plastic bag ban would be OK with me if it would help clean up the city."

Laura Messerschmitt, San Carlos
