Voices Around Town

Asked in downtown Mountain View. Photos and interviews by Ray Levy-Uyeda.

What are you planning to read this summer?

"'History of Idaho.' We're another one of those families that's priced out and moving out of the area. We leave in two days."

Mike Laursen, Mountain View

"A book about movie editing. I'm a freelance photographer."

Taiya Fu, Mountain View

"'Where the Crawdads Sing.'"

Vera Gil, Mountain View

"I want to finish 'The Selfish Gene.' It's about human evolution, by Richard Dawkins."

Nikki Qi, Menlo Park

"'Seven Practices of a Mindful Leader' by Marc Lesser."

Liam Friedland, Redwood City

It was fun for my daughter and me to be asked what we're reading this summer as we were walking out of the library. To clarify, what I actually said is that we are another family that has decided to take the gains from our house and relocate out of state.

For those who know us, we are moving to Idaho in two weeks, not two days. We want to make sure the kids finish school before we move.

Yes, it feels like a big difference between "priced out" and "got obscenely rich."
