The victims, two Redwood City residents who arrived in downtown Mountain View on a motorcycle, told police they were confronted by the suspect shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 22. The pair told police that the man approached them and asked questions about the motorcycle before asking the driver to buy him alcohol, according to police spokeswoman Katie Nelson.
When the driver refused, the man allegedly became confrontational and threatened to attack and shoot the victims, Nelson said.
Officers arriving on the 400 block of Castro Street to talk to the victims spotted the suspect walking away from the area and detained him. He was later arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats, and was booked into Santa Clara County jail. He was being held with a bail set at $25,000 as of Wednesday morning, and had a court date for Wednesday afternoon, after the Voice's press deadline.
