Nadine Levin named interim Atherton city manager

Nadine Levin, who retired in June as Mountain View's longtime assistant city manager, has been named Atherton's transitional interim town manager, appointed to oversee operations in Town Hall until the City Council appoints a longer-term interim manager early next month.

Retire on a public pension, and then immediately go back to work and work on another one while still collecting retirement. Brilliant. This will soon be outlawed by the California legislature if they can muster up the moral courage.

@Average Joe. How is this different from someone retiring from a corporate job and then becoming a consultant selling their knowledge and experience? Sure the taxpayer is paying Ms. Levin's retirement and salary in her new (temporary) position, but it's not like she isn't earning it. Everything I have ever read or heard about Ms. Levin is she is a talented and dedicated individual.

If you retire from the state, and decide to go back to state work, you should be required to stop receiving retirement while you continue to add funds to your new state job for retirement.
