Council: what to do with $30 million from Google?

Now that Google has agreed to pay for a $30 million land lease up front, laying off city employees to fix the city's budget deficit appeared to have much less appeal in Tuesday's City Council meeting.

Why not get some of the vehicles off the roads to save costs of repair, and especially now with gas prices so high; go green and ride the bus. Provide annual bus passes to employees and encourage all businesses in Mountain View to do likewise. The VTA busses are generally empty and this is really too bad.

Be the first city to go green and eliminate fuel emissions - I enjoy the clean air to breath better - this certainly would help out all around.
