Healthcare cost sharing seems to be a trend, the tech company I work for is moving to it next year. Regarding teacher pay there is this new documentary "American Teacher", haven't seen it yet, but looks worth seeing: Web Link

I think there should just be income based fees for public education.

Trend? I think the VAST majority of non-union members have been paying a portion of their healthcare costs for years... heck, even federal employees have been paying part of their premiums for at least 15 yrs.

as for income-based fees for ed? property tax? of course, the prop 13 loophole is unfair to the multi-generational home. But, for the most part, property tax is effectively an income-based tax for public education. Someone buys a $1M home, they pay over $12K per year in property tax... someone rents a $2k per month apartment, they pay significantly less.

This was no raise. The teacher share of the health insurance premiums wipes out the raise and actually lowers teacher take home salaries, and significantly for some.

The Voice should learn how to research issues before blindly reporting on them.
