City may hire more staff to handle Google's growth

Original post made on Dec 13, 2011

Illustrating just how much Google plans to grow in future years, the City Council is set to vote Tuesday night on whether to take $255,000 up front from Google and use it to hire new city staff to handle that growth.

My VOTE: NO....

What if google falters and does not expand as expected? MV will be stuck with more people that we can't let go (excuse: because we can't let good people go).... More Union workers... More pensions... more wasted money... Hire AFTER we start getting the Tax Revenue NOT BEFORE!!!!!

Let's continue to the tradition of public spending....spend it all with no regard for the future. That's the problem. The city council and city leaders have no real business experience. It's difficult for them to understand a basic concept of spending only what you can afford.

Let me explain this more simply in terms that even our city council can understand. Google is prepaying for future services; they are NOT paying anything extra to MV. If you have any fiscal responsiblity, you would understand that you can't hire people to sit around even if Google pre-pays you. You should reject the prepayment of Google funds and WAIT until Google applies for permits or plan reviews before adding staff. How about this novel idea...why don't you allow Google to wait an additional 2 weeks for plan reviews. You realize that everyone else in MV has to wait right?

It truly shocks me that more people aren't outraged by the way our city government spends money, goes into debt, and needs the residents to bail them out through higher taxes or parcel taxes.

So again Google flexes and the City folds. Why not make it official and change our name to Google View and let there board run everything.
