You wouldn't see a story like this in a paper in Iowa. But there's a reason I don't live in Iowa.

There are terms: "Working with the residents" and "Working with the school" that I really hope are in play here. Assuming the residents who oppose the lights are opposed to it for specific reasons, if the residents concerns are addressed and proven not to be a problem, its a win win for everyone. The kids deserve the night games so instead of saying NO because some things "might" happen, lets work together to make sure things don't happen, then we can all rest easy those 3-4 nights out of the entire year. Oh, and if there is some negative incident, lets work to see how it happened and how it can be stopped. EVERY issue has a solution. Lets git 'er done

I live by Castro School, and about 10pm we got loud thunder (scared the cat) and a lot of hard rain. It soaked my deck in a minute. It was gone in 5 minutes. Might have been hail.

It was eerie cause it came out of no where while I was watching "The Thing" alone at home. Kinda creeped me out. I thought my mind was playing tricks on me when I saw a flash out of my peripherals, then I realized it was actually lightning and thunder. Saw a few flashes and heard a few rumbles, but it only lasted 10 minutes or so.
