New Traffic Light Configuration at Castro & Central Expressway

Original post made by Curious Observer, Jackson Park, on Feb 26, 2014

The traffic lights at Castro & Central Expressway have changed. There is no longer a flashing red light at the tracks. It's a red light. I continue to see people treating it like it's a stop sign or people honk their horns at those who are stopped at the light. Last night I saw a motorcycle cop pull over 4 cars that drove through the red light and waited at Central Expressway. People pay attention!

I do have concerns about the new configuration. The traffic going into downtown still backs up past Central Ave in the evening and the other night I was stuck all the way back at Villa because of the red light at the tracks. Is this the new configuration for ever or will there be some modifications to it?
