Santa came to town Monday night, as Mountain View held its annual holiday celebration with snow, carols and the ceremonial lighting of the community tree.

While Monday broke records in some Bay Area cities as the warmest Dec. 8 on record, kids got to sled down a snowy hill in downtown Mountain View. Carolers sang, babies wailed when confronted with Santa’s lap and multi-colored lights brightened City Hall Plaza.

  1. the “snow” was probably from a Zamboni. Same as everyone else does. So that water actually got MORE use than it would have. Unless you think it’s best to just let those scrapings go down the drain, like they usually do.

Really, do you honestly think the water used in this event was enough to impact anything. I would say this use is as good as any other you can come up with. ESPECIALLY since, even in this severe drought, California dumps 48% of its water in the ocean to meet environmental regulations.

  3. I can’t believe people waited in that line to see Santa. It must have been at least a 2 hour wait. Also the line to just touch the snow was ridicules. Planners need to maybe push the play area more into Pioneer Park so there is more space to even walk.
