An Air National Guard unit based at Moffett Field rescued a sick man from a commercial fishing boat off the coast of Monterey Monday evening.

The 129th Rescue Wing was called into action around 3 p.m. on Monday after receiving a report of a sick 24-year-old man aboard a 65-foot commercial fishing vessel, Temptation, Air National Guard officials said.

A team of three pararescuemen from unit flew on a HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter to the fishing boat, which was located around 160 nautical miles off the coast of Monterey.

The pararescuemen moved the man to the helicopter around 5 p.m. and transported him to San Jose Regional Medical Center.

He arrived around 6 p.m. and was listed in stable condition as of Monday night, officials said.
