I find this an interesting situation, given that the Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury two years ago recommended one Superintendent for both districts - in which case the usual extremely generous "compensation" might be finally rational and practical. The old idea of the more money you offer, the better the candidate you get is becoming fairly tattered these days. Doesn't seem to have much reality behind it.
