USA is a registered user.

"... Democratic National Committee officials said"

In other words, this is a political trip.

"The president is scheduled to attend a fundraiser ..."

Yeah, saw that coming.

"To bad its not open to the public."

Too bad you are not a wealthy donor.

That's not what the story says.

There's two different events, one is a fund raiser (DNC) and the other a cyber security summit at Stanford.

Is it open to the public, unless you're an industry leader in cyber security or the press I'd guess "no"

Anyone have an idea of the timing of this? Obviously it greatly impacts traffic whenever a president come out here so it would be helpful to plan. Hard to believe the reporter didn't include any time information.

This far out, they don't give out the exact schedule of the President (wisely) due to security concerns.

Yes, traffic_watch, I'm sure the WH is well aware of your concerns, and will coordinate their visit with your busy schedule. Heaven forbid you should get stuck in an extra red light. We can't have that, LOL!

Tom,

Perhaps your ignorance of the situation is because you have never been impacted. As someone who works in the Los Altos and LAH area I have, along with hundreds if not thousands of drivers in the last two visits. 280 from Alpine to Foothill, Foothill Expy, El Monte and dozens of other streets were shut down during a late afternoon visit about a year ago. That kept many from picking upon their kids from daycare or school. It kept myself and hundreds of workers and Foothill students trapped in a standstill on Moody road and El Monte while the freeway and El Monte were closed for over 30 minutes. There was no alternative that was not blocked. I understand the need for security when a President visits. I understand the resulting traffic. What I hoped for was at least a vague idea of timing so I and others know when to avoid the general area.

Traffic_watch, sorry to hear about your traffic delay. Like you, I commute to San Jose each day, and often experience 30 minute jams. I was stuck on the 237 one day, complaining, just like you, when a 747 with the Shuttle on its back flew right over my head while landing at Moffet. As the economy has boomed in the last 5 years, traffic has gotten worse, and most of it unfortunately is caused by more tragic events. To stay informed, I tune to 740 on your AM dial, for "traffic on the 8's", every 10 minutes.

Yes, I typo'd on "commute" Tom. [Portion removed due to disrespectful comment]
Any others that have concerns about the POTUS travel traffic times can check here. It should be updated on the morning of the 13th

Chinooks landing at Stanford today, probably getting ready for Obama on Friday. Perhaps he won't be on the roads at all. Web Link
