Beware Craftsmen's Guild at the street fair

Original post made by A.M., Shoreline West, on May 3, 2015

Craftsmen's Guild advertises yearly at the Mountain View street fair. Stay away.

We hired Craftsmen's Guild in 2009, after finding them at the street fair. Of the dozen or so contractors who have worked on our fixer upper home, this is the only I would not want back if you paid me. They violated federal regulation on lead in older homes. We spent upwards of $10,000 cleaning up lead debris, which I believe is directly related to CG's demolition. I believe they failed to fulfill the clean up clause of their contract. They mishandled city permits. Problems also included a litany of small stuff: installing the food disposal incorrectly, gaps in drywall around light switches, placing a port-a-potty on top of a young fruit tree, and more. I had nightmares, literally.

So enjoy the street fair, but beware our mistake.
