The Obon festival is one of the treasures of our peninsula. Each town has its own event and I absolutely love that we have one in MV. The Sunday evening dance segment is one of my favorite cultural performances each year. And the food is always scrumptious. If you've never attended Obon, do yourself and your family (esp the kids) a favor and go this year. It's an inexpensive way to encounter authentic Japanese culture without paying for the airfare to Japan.
